A Change of Leadership for Rockledge
We'd like to thank Rich Grousset '98 for his years of service as president of the Iota Chapter of Alpha Sigma Phi, Inc. Scott Beicke '97 will take over the role of president until Homecoming 2010 and the board will spend the coming months searching for a successor. Continue reading for Rich's farewell letter.

After serving as President of the Iota Chapter of Alpha Sigma Phi, Inc. for more than six years, it is with mixed emotions that I announce my resignation. I am stepping down because I need to redirect my energy toward personal and professional development. Or, more simply, I need a break! 

I am extremely pleased to announce that my close friend and pledge brother, Scott Beicke ’97, has agreed to take over the role of president until his term on the board expires later this year. Scott has demonstrated exemplary commitment to Rockledge during his tenure on the board and his experience in the financial industry will continue to be invaluable in guiding our fiscal strategy.

Chapter Report

The brothers of Alpha Sigma Phi are excited to be back for another semester. This semester, all the brothers and new members are looking forward to new member education. With our new pledge class of 14 pledges, our goal is to make this is a semester where collectively, brothers and pledges grow closer to each other, working to improve the House we live in, as well as taking an active role on campus and within the Greek community. The tight-knit relationships among the brothers in the House have already, and will continue to serve, a positive enabler of the collaborative effort that we undertake as members of Rockledge. There is considerable momentum.  This past June, the undergraduate brothers took an active role preparing the House for the Centennial Celebration, a special occasion where many of us were fortunate to be united with hundreds of Rockledge alums. And the fall semester featured two Rockledge sponsored philanthropy events that raised money for cancer research and underprivileged schoolchildren in Africa. In this report, we will discuss some important, specific areas where there have been notable developments.

Alejandro Badia '85...The Man Who Fixes the Hand
World-famous United States hand and shoulder specialist surgeon Dr Alejandro Badia was playing with 62-year-old Mayaro contractor Ken Singh’s hand like it was a little puppy he was petting, deftly kneading the bruised flesh. That was the first the Sunday Guardian saw of Badia when responding to the Caribbean Hand Centre’s (CHC) invitation to attend a first anniversary ceremony at its 16 Alcazar Street, St Clair location, on January 29. The occasion was also to host a farewell party for Badia, the CHC’s main consultant, who after yet another fleeting visit to T&T, will be returning to his headquarters in south Miami where he is Chief of Hand Surgery at the Baptist Hospital.
