Continue reading for Rich's farewell letter.After serving as President of the Iota Chapter of Alpha Sigma Phi, Inc. for more than six years, it is with mixed emotions that I announce my resignation. I am stepping down because I need to redirect my energy toward personal and professional development. Or, more simply, I need a break! I am extremely pleased to announce that my close friend and pledge brother, Scott Beicke ’97, has agreed to take over the role of president until his term on the board expires later this year. Scott has demonstrated exemplary commitment to Rockledge during his tenure on the board and his experience in the financial industry will continue to be invaluable in guiding our fiscal strategy. Continued... Chapter ReportBy Tyrone Stevens, Chapter President The brothers of Alpha Sigma Phi are excited to be back for another semester. This semester, all the brothers and new members are looking forward to new member education. With our new pledge class of 14 pledges, our goal is to make this is a semester where collectively, brothers and pledges grow closer to each other, working to improve the House we live in, as well as taking an active role on campus and within the Greek community. The tight-knit relationships among the brothers in the House have already, and will continue to serve, a positive enabler of the collaborative effort that we undertake as members of Rockledge. There is considerable momentum. This past June, the undergraduate brothers took an active role preparing the House for the Centennial Celebration, a special occasion where many of us were fortunate to be united with hundreds of Rockledge alums. And the fall semester featured two Rockledge sponsored philanthropy events that raised money for cancer research and underprivileged schoolchildren in Africa. Continued... In the News: Rockledge Brother Chuck Feeney '56Charles "Chuck" Feeney Receives Cornell School of Hotel Administration's Icon of the Industry Award Charles F. "Chuck" Feeney, co-founder of Duty Free Shoppers (DFS) and founding chairman of The Atlantic Philanthropies, will receive the 2010 Icon of the Industry Award from the Cornell University School of Hotel Administration (SHA) at a gala dinner in New York City on June 8, 2010. At the event, Feeney will be honored for his lifetime achievements as an international business leader in the travel industry as well as his extraordinary philanthropic contributions.

Pike Fraternity Hospitalizes Three RusheesCornell Daily Sun, January 25, 2010 - Cornell's Beta Theta chapter of Pi Kappa Alpha (Pike) had its University recognition temporarily suspended Friday, pending further investigation of an incident at a recruitment event that sent three students to the hospital. Pike has been ordered to desist from all fraternity activities including recruitment, according to the University. The Ithaca Police Department, along with Cornell Police and the University, are investigating the incident. Continued... All News |
